Spring Tour 2006 Update from DC

After the Atlanta show we got into the bus for a nine hour trek up the East coast to Washington DC. On the bus ride we watched a video of the night's performance at the Roxy. This was the first time we'd seen any video of the the tour and the Roxy's lighting setup really looked great.
Steve was nursing his right hand index finger after tearing off part of his fingernail playing "Night One". Afterwards we all did a late night viewing of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" in the front lounge. We watched "The Exorcist" a couple nights ago as well- satanic possesion movies go over pretty well on the bus.
We got to DC early enough so that some could grab a few hotel bed winks, and Steve and Dan took a sightseeing walk to the Lincoln and Washington Memorials and the White House. The weather in DC is absolutely perfect, and it's great to have a little bit of free time to enjoy this awesome city.
Tuesday was an off day, and our manager Jared (who was raised in DC) took the band out for dinner and later we all went out to the stairs from "The Exorcist" to snap some pics. We were planning to do one of our guerilla acoustic performances, but Steve was resting his voice for the upcoming 3 day stretch. Later on Dan, Shawn, Poochie and Steve set up a late night hotel room poker game. Dan took it down.
Wednesday we spent a couple hours on the Elliott in the Morning show on DC 101, which was a blast. We played "Why Cry", "Blue Bruises" and "Outsider", and had a great time shooting the breeze.
That night, we played one of the country's great rock clubs; the 9:30 club and had our best show of the tour so far. The room was a great size, the lights and sound were ideal, and the audience was a joy to play for. Towards the end of the set we invited some fans onstage to help us lead the crowd in a gang count from 1 to 13, for a possible final album track. The crowd was so good to us that it felt like the right time to try this idea out. Sadly, everything about the show went off without a hitch except this ...the recording equipment was on the fritz, and we didn't get a full audio track of the count. Apologies, DC - it was us, not you... Maybe we'll try again before the end of the tour. That issue aside, we had a killer stop in our nation's capitol and we all say thanks to DC for such a welcome!
We've been monitoring the 7 Clues to Become the (ONe) thread in the Asylum, and have made it somewhat easier to "see" the first clue. New clue coming tonight...
And now, by request... some more shots of our tattoo stop in Little Five Points, Atlanta, Georgia:

getting a definite macabre vibe from the pic on the stairs...
And The Exorcist viewing on a dark an dreary highway... sounds a definite enchantment indeed. Right up my "spine" or alley as others my say... kind of like the alley your in on the stairs?
In any event, I just wish to say im still broken hearted that I missed you guys in NYC.
Maybe next time around...
